Most Asked Questions
Will my teeth become white after scaling?
No. Scaling and polishing only removes external stains. The tooth colour remains the same.
How long does the teeth whitening treatment take?
The standard time is between thirty minutes to one and half hour (30mins – 1hr:30mins) to achieve a whiter and brighter smile. It can be broken down into two 15-minute applications to allow for maximum gel concentration and light exposure, without being under the light for too long of a period to cause gum irritation. Individuals with sensitive teeth may reduce the intensity of the bleaching unit by choosing a lower power setting and those with very heavy stains may need additional treatments.
How often do I need to do scaling?
Advisable every 6 months.
How often do I have to come in for teeth whitening?
It is a once-a-year treatment, but depending on your diet and lifestyle you may need to come in every 3-6 months.
How much is laser teeth whitening
Without our free teeth whitening promo, our laser teeth whitening costs fifty-five thousand naira (₦55,000 with teeth cleaning procedure) only for one hour and a half procedure and thirty-eight thousand (₦38,000) naira only for a one-hour long procedure.
Is laser teeth whitening procedure safe?
When performed by a dentist, laser tooth whitening is an extremely safe tooth whitening method. The tooth surface is not damaged by the laser, as it is used to activate the bleaching agents applied to the surface. This creates a chemical reaction between the substances causing discoloration on the tooth surface and the applied peroxide gel. Since dental lasers can easily focus on specific areas, each tooth can be appropriately targeted.

Is laser teeth whitening effective?
Laser teeth whitening works similarly to traditional methods that use a bleaching gel and a light. The gel is applied, and the light activates it to break down the surface stains. Instead of light, a laser targets the bleaching gel and speeds up the chemical reaction. Due to the laser technology’s precise control, this can be accomplished quickly and effectively while reducing the gums’ chance of irritating and causing excess tooth sensitivity.
Who is a good candidate for laser teeth whitening?
Basically, from 18 years and above. The option for laser whitening treatment is possible for most people seeking a whiter smile, as long as the dentist offers the procedure. Most people with stains from dark-colored food and beverages, such as coffee or red wine, or smoking can quickly see a great improvement after bleaching. Those who have extensive dental or oral health problems may not be good candidates for tooth whitening until the problems are resolved. Cleaning and repairing the teeth are important pre-whitening steps, since the bleach agents may not interact effectively with enamel that has excessive tartar or decay.
Teeth Cleaning FAQs
Will my teeth become white after scaling?
No. Scaling and polishing only removes external stains. The tooth colour remains the same.
What is the difference between scaling and polishing?
Scaling is the act of removal of plaque and calculus (the white or yellow hard deposits) that accumulate on your teeth and are not removable by normal tooth brushing. It is commonly known as teeth cleaning and can be carried out by a dentist or qualified hygienist.
Polishing on the other hand is carried out to smoothen the teeth after scaling and to remove any surface stains left. Brush polishing is done with a cleaning paste to remove light staining. Air polishing uses polishing powder that is used to remove surface stains, medium to heavy
staining.
How often do I need to do scaling?
Advisable every 6 months.
Can scaling and polishing remove all stains? What about cigarette smoking stains?
Scaling and polishing only removes smooth surface stains. The fissures or grooved surface stains are difficult to remove. Cigarette stains can be removed with air polishing (surface).
Why do I need scaling? What happens if I don’t do scaling?
Scaling is done to remove plaque and tartar deposits. These deposits can eventually lead to bad breath (halitosis), bleeding gums, receding gums, painful chewing and eventually tooth loss. These are the symptoms of gum disease. Therefore, in order to prevent gum disease scaling is done.

- Mouth sores
- Jaw pain
- Redness
- Swollen face or gums
- Tooth sensitivity
- Broken teeth
- Dry mouth
- Bleeding gums
- Bad breath or a bad taste in your mouth

Do you admit patient
No, we do not.
What causes bad breath?
The most common cause of halitosis is bad oral hygiene. If particles of food are left in the mouth, their breakdown by bacteria produces sulfur compounds. A dry mouth or a low salivary flow can also influence bad odor. There are two main goals in the management of bad breath. First, controlling the bacteria that produce the sulfur compounds and second, to neutralize the sulfur compounds that are produced.
What toothpaste should I use?
The most important ingredient to look for when choosing toothpaste is fluoride. Fluoride is a naturally occurring mineral. Its use has been instrumental in the dramatic drop in tooth decay and cavity occurrence that has taken place over the past 50 years. For the best protection, find a toothpaste with at least 1,000 parts per million fluoride and NAFDAC seal on it.
How often should I replace my toothbrush?
Every 2 to 3 months. The Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria (MDCN) recommends renewing your toothbrush every three to four months. If the bristles become frayed, you’re sick, or you have a weak immune system, throw it out even more often. If you use an electric toothbrush, throw out the head as often as you’d discard a disposable toothbrush.
